Bamboo Museum

The China Bamboo Museum opened on October 26, 2000. The museum covers an area of 12,000 square meters with a total investment of 20 million RMB. It is divided into eight exhibition halls: the preface hall, the historical resources hall, the cultivation and utilization hall, the literary and artistic hall, the academic lecture hall, the craft collection hall, and the international exhibition hall. They reflect the 6000-year history and culture of bamboo in China, as well as various bamboo craft masterpieces from ancient and modern times, both domestic and international, and various bamboo shoot specimens. The bamboo culture is very rich. The giant dragon bamboo in the museum is the thickest and largest bamboo in the world. The bamboo weaving "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" in the craft hall was re-created by senior craftsman Lu Guanghua according to the requirements of bamboo weaving art. He led six bamboo weavers to spend two and a half years and more than 300,000 fine bamboo threads to weave it. Its outer frame and base are made of high-quality redwood carved in the traditional Dongyang wood carving style. The entire work is 4.36 meters long and 2.16 meters high, and it took more than 6800 hours of work. It looks elegant, dignified, and can be appreciated from both sides, with permanent collection value. It won the Excellent Creation Award at the 2000 Xizi Expo Craft Art Masterpieces and Fine Arts Expo.
